Bushfire Attack Level (BAL)
A BAL assessment determines the level of bushfire threat to a building or development. It is used to determine what measures are necessary to managed the fire risk, including the construction standards that must be used for residential buildings.
The result of the BAL assessment will be a rating that represents the potential radiant heat measured in kW/m2:
BAL-LOW – very low risk (bushfire construction standards do not apply)
BAL-12.5 – low risk
BAL-19 – moderate risk
BAL-29 – high risk
BAL-40 – very high risk
BAL-FZ – extreme risk (Flame Zone)
Bushfire West can provide you with an accredited BAL Report to assess your project.
